If you own a home in a block of flats, you might be finding it difficult to sell, staircase (buy an additional percentage of the equity of your home) or remortgage your property, due to changes in guidance and legislation.
The Building Safety Act requires that as part of the sale, remortgage or staircasing of a home in any building that has five or more storeys or is 11 metres or more in height, you’ll need to provide us with a Leaseholder Deed of Certificate. We'll then issue you with a Landlord's Certificate.
You should then send both of these certificates to your solicitor and mortgage lender,
otherwise the transaction won’t be able to progress. Further information on the certificates is available on the Government website.
If you have any queries regarding this, or aren’t sure if this applies to you, please get in touch with us at EWS@hyde-housing.co.uk.
Please read our EWS1 advice around building safety before you start any of these processes.
