At Hyde, keeping you and your home safe is our priority.
E-bikes and e-scooters are a great way to get around. But, if they’re not stored and charged properly, or if batteries are damaged, they can cause serious fires.
According to the London Fire Brigade, London alone has seen record numbers of e-bike fires. In 2025, 165 e-bike and e-scooter fires were recorded up to September. This is an average of around 18 e-bike or e-scooter fires a month.
Our advice is that e-bikes and e-scooters shouldn’t be charged or stored in your home. However, if you do, please do it safely to avoid the risk of a fire starting, putting you, your home and your neighbours at risk.
Always store your e-bike or e-scooter in a cool and dry place – never in communal areas or near doors where they can block escape routes.
